Certified Postpartum Doula, Erin Huiatt offers several Postpartum Doula services in Des Moines. She supports new moms emotionally and physically after birth. She also provides many opportunities to help prepare for the postpartum period during pregnancy.

Meal Prepping – $200

This is the perfect option if you are just looking for someone to prepare meals before your baby arrives.  She will work with you to build a menu based off of your needs and dietary restrictions. The cost of groceries will be separate. She will come to your house to prep, cook and label all meals.

This is a great addition to any basic postpartum package.

Postpartum Preparation Package – $400

This package includes 5-hours of preparation before the arrival of your baby + 2-hours of postpartum care after your baby arrives.

This may include and is not limited to:

  • Meal Preparation. Will build menu based off of clients needs and dietary restrictions, if any. The cost of groceries will be separate. She will come to house prep, cook and label all meals.
  • Make Padsicles or any other supplies needed postpartum. You will want these! Promise 🙂
  • Sit down with client to go over items they may need during the postpartum period.
  • Home visit
    • Go over nursery
    • Snack baskets in important places throughout the house
    • Any other questions or concerns
    • Cloth diapering? Go over any questions regarding cloth diapering.
    • Each client will receive a “The Postpartum Plan” workbook at no charge.
      • This is a 24-page workbook that goes into details of things to think about before baby arrives and better prepare you for your postpartum period.
      • I will go over the workbook with each client and determine what areas we may need to do more preparation.
      • If client is interested in Placenta Encapsulation, I can set this up and also pick up.
      • Includes 2-hours of postpartum care, after baby arrives. More hours available at an additional cost.

Package 1: Basic Postpartum Support Package – $985

Flexible usage of 33 hours, in 3-hour segments. Average of a four-week commitment.

Postpartum Care Packages include: Assistance will all newborn care (diapering, swaddling, soothing, etc.)

  • Lactation support
  • Emotional support for mom
  • Assistance with light housework and meal preparations
  • Assisting with sibling adjustment
  • Offer coping strategies to soothe newborn
  • Provide community resources such as breastfeeding support groups, postpartum support groups, lactation consultants, etc.
  • Care for baby while mother sleeps, showers and rests

Package 2: Basic Postpartum Support Package – $655

Flexible usage of 21 hours, in 3-hour segments. Average of a two-week commitment.

Postpartum Care Packages include:

  • Assistance will all newborn care (diapering, swaddling, soothing, etc.)
  • Lactation support
  • Emotional support for mom
  • Assistance with light housework and meal preparations
  • Assisting with sibling adjustment
  • Offer coping strategies to soothe newborn
  • Provide community resources such as breastfeeding support groups, postpartum support groups, lactation consultants, etc.
  • Care for baby while mother sleeps, showers and rests

Package 3: Basic Postpartum Support Package – $315

Flexible usage of 9 hours, in 3-hour segments. Average of a one week commitment.

Postpartum Care Packages include:

  • Assistance will all newborn care (diapering, swaddling, soothing, etc.)
  • Lactation support
  • Emotional support for mom
  • Assistance with light housework and meal preparations
  • Assisting with sibling adjustment
  • Offer coping strategies to soothe newborn
  • Provide community resources such as breastfeeding support groups, postpartum support groups, lactation consultants, etc.
  • Care for baby while mother sleeps, showers and rests

Hospital Support – $200

This package includes 5-hours of emotional and physical support strictly at the hospital.

This is the perfect package for women who may unexpectedly have to stay at the hospital longer than plan due to a cesarean birth, preemie, or any other reasoning. Also, a perfect option for a planned cesarean birth.

This may include and is not limited to:

  1. Come to the hospital for support if spouse needs to go home for any reason.
  2. Bring items to the hospital if needed.

More hours are available at an additional cost (hospital or at home)

Additional Notes

  • All packages include an initial 1-hour consultation to get a better idea of what each client needs.
  • Clients who schedule before their 3rd trimester for a Hospital Support Package or Basic Postpartum Support Package will receive a copy of “The Postpartum Plan” workbook at no cost. This is a great resource to help you plan and go over with your postpartum doula to fill in any gaps before the baby arrives!
